On Dec. 10, Great Basin College held the Fire and Ice Festival, a collaborative Christmas celebration which featured the efforts of several college departments and local organizations.
The night’s festivities included carols with flute, piano and percussion accompaniment from Ruby Mountain Voices, an outdoor a capella concert from the Elko High School Choraliers, a string orchestra performance from the Elko High School Orchestra, and poetry readings from Great Basin Theatre.
Visitors could also dine on chili and pizza in the Solarium, as well as enjoy treats and hats sold at booths sponsored by Great Basin College groups. In addition, a Diaper Drive booth provided free baby products.
